It is with anger and sorrow that the Alternative Press Syndicate, announces the killing of our colleague Issam Abdallah, a photojournalist working for Reuters and a member of the syndicate in a direct Israeli attack on a press convoy while covering the events in Alma Shaab in south Lebanon.
The Syndicate denounces the targeted attack on a group of journalists who were on duty.
This atrocious attack committed by the Israeli army is considered a war crime that resulted in the killing of Issam and the wounding of other journalists working with Reuters, AFP and Al Jazeera.
Our loss is immense. Issam, the energetic, vibrant and loving person who was loved and respected by his colleagues, was a professional journalist, who worked extensively and covered several international conflicts. Through his lens, and impeccable professionalism, he transmitted the world’s major events even under cruel circumstances. Today, Issam is the event.
The syndicate is mourning him, and condemning the occupation’s crime against journalism and humanity.
